When Dawn contacted me for more information on Shoots for a Cure, she wasn’t sure she wanted a session. Wasn’t sure this was the right time. Or that she would feel beautiful. She was just finishing chemo and barely beginning her long course of radiation. I encouraged Dawn to give herself a life celebrating gift, whether it was a portrait session or something else. She decided to go for it!
Dawn was diagnosed with breast cancer last October. Once she got over the shock she chose to be very open about her new reality. Dawn announced her diagnosis through Facebook and has been blogging about the experience. She finds a lot of humor in what she’s going through, writes about that, and has even started a book. Dawn’s message to anyone else going through cancer treatment is to “keep your sense of humor and never stop laughing.”
Dawn warned me before we met that we would have trouble trying to achieve a “serious pose.” She was so right! We tried the serious look a couple of times, but it just didn’t match her personality. She’s just too bubbly to pull that off! 🙂
Dawn, I love your attitude! Cancer has not dimmed your beauty one bit and I look forward to seeing what you have to share in your book.
