Please pray for this beautiful family………

I recently reconnected with my Ball State sorority sister and roommate. I met her adorable kiddos and we caught up on what was going on with our families. It was so nice to see her again. Anyone who knows Dawn (Fritts) McGraw knows that you are always greeted with a huge smile and a BIG bear hug. She talked about wanting to do a family photo session but we had not locked down the date. It was to my absolute shock that this family session would turn into a Think Pink session. Dawn called me about 3 weeks ago and told me that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. My heart sank as I heard this news. How could this loving, vibrant mother of 2 young children be faced with this challenge? We talked about what was to come and she decided that it was important for her to do this family photo session.

I told Dawn that during the session we could not talk about was yet to come for her. I wanted them to have fun, laugh and forget about the whirlwind of emotions that they were experiencing. Have fun, we did!! It was a gorgeous evening at the park. The kids did fabulous and as you can see , they are absolutely adorable. On the walk back to the car Dawn said to me, “Kami, my hair, my eyelashes that will be hard for me to lose.” DAWN, when looking at your pictures I do not notice your hair and eyelashes. I notice the LOVE and JOY you have for your family. I notice your smile and your zest for life. Anyone who knows you knows that these qualities are what make you Dawn. You are going to pull through this just fine and be stronger than ever.

As you start your chemo today (Wednesday), you have my families prayers and thousands of others. You can do this, and probably do it with a huge smile. Those nurses are going to get some of the best hugs ever!!
